Lewis A. Miller: an intentional & impactful life
It is with great sadness that we share that our esteemed founder passed away 12/28/24. Lew was 96 years young, and every day he awoke to address the needs of the immigrant community in his beloved New York City, with the goal of helping as many of his undocumented neighbors as possible achieve financial self-sufficiency, independence, and a brighter future with dignity, enabling them to be contributing members of society. This organization is among the many passion projects that Lew founded during his lifetime of service to others. His legacy of making our world a better place for all is what unites us on this Board, and we ask you to join in support. As Lew reminds us, “This land of opportunity was built on the backs, the brains, and the courage of our immigrant ancestors—ours and yours. We need the financial support and the moral support of as many Americans as possible to help our new Americans to be contributing members of our society.” Helping Immigrants Thrive—HImT for short—transcends politics. We consider that we have a humanitarian duty and a patriotic duty to help.
